Mehlville Community Education Camps are offered weekly through the month of July. Camp classes meet Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Tremont Treks
Develop the fundamental skills necessary to kayak in whitewater rivers with confidence!
You will learn power, sweep, reverse and draw strokes. In addition to paddling strokes you will get practice in techniques like sculling, edging, bracing, Eskimo rescue and Eskimo roll.
Minimum age 16 for the adult classes. Bring quick dry clothing, a towel and drinking water. Quick dry, rash guard or SmartWool work better in this setting than swimsuits. You may bring your own whitewater boat or use ours. Join us for dinner after class.
The youth kayaking classes are for strong swimmers ages 7-17 wanting to learn/practice whitewater kayaking skills, including the proper use of the spray skirt to unlock new skills such as low/high bracing and T-rescues, etc.
We give you the skills. Where you take them has no limit!
The Try it Out sessions are for participants 16 and over to experience the fun and exercise that kayaking provides.
The Mehlville Pool is located at 3100 Lemay Ferry Road, Saint Louis, MO 63125. Drive to the MHS campus, drive back behind the buildings and look for the pool facility with the green roof.
For questions about the campus pool facility or aquatics classes, please contact Mark Hromnak at hromnakm@msdr9.org or (314) 467-6203.
